THE WATER CHAMPION SINCE 1961

DIVE INTO THE LEGEND

At the beginning of every legend, there is an innovation, an awareness. For Edox, the legend began in 1961 with the launch of the Delfin watch. This watch marked an important turning point in the development of the hourglass brand and set new standards in terms of water resistance in the Swiss watchmaking panorama. The Edox Delfin watch was presented as a sporty and elegant diving watch.

With a case equipped with a double back and a water resistance of more than 200 meters, the Edox Delfin presented a new closing system with a revolutionary double seal called “Double O’ring”. A patented system that increased the water resistance of Delfin watches.

THE EDOX DOUBLE O’RING

A TRUE REVOLUTION

Patented in Berne in 1961 following the launch of the Edox Delfin, the “Double O’ring” system works thanks to two gaskets made of rubber and nylons that form a watertight seal where the crown and the case of the watch meet.

This system of double seals allows the user to wind or set the time of his watch in any circumstance, even underwater.

Nowadays, this invention is still used by Edox.

Over the years, Edox has continued to perpetuate its status as a champion of water resistance and to develop its expertise by creating ever more robust and resistant watches.

In 1965, the Edox Hydro-Sub became world famous for its first crown system with a tension ring and shock absorbing gasket for guaranteed water resistance. This watch was water resistant to 500 meters. It was a remarkable technical achievement in the 1960s.
